OSAKA PREFECTURE UNIVERSITY:

Founded in 1949, Osaka Prefecture University in Japan is one of the most selective institutions in the country.

Since 2005, Osaka Prefecture University has incorporated what were previously three separate universities: Osaka Prefecture University, Osaka Women's University and Osaka Prefectural College of Nursing. It is now one of the largest public higher level institutions in Japan.

OPU offers a broad range of undergraduate and graduate schools organised in seven schools specialising in engineering, life and environmental sciences, science, economics, humanities and social sciences, nursing and comprehensive rehabilitation respectively. The university has a particularly strong focus on engineering.

International students have to pass the special entrance examination as well as a Japanese language test - you must speak some Japanese in order to join the university. Once you start, students are eligible for free Japanese lessons on campus.

The university has three campuses, located in the suburbs of the city of Sakai, and in the nearby the smaller cities of Habikino and Izumisano. The Osaka Prefecture University International House and the Orion International House are available for international students in order to help their integration.

Applying to University-wide Exchange Programs

Recommendation from Universities in Exchange Agreements with OU

Those students from universities with agreements with OU who are recommended as candidates for the programs will proceed with their application.

Once the information of the recommended students is registered online by the exchange students program staff at your home universities, you can make an application for University-wide Exchange Programs (OUSSEP/iEXPO/FrontierLab/Maple).

If there is a limit to the exchange programs available, time abroad, and entrance timing, students must follow the instructions given by exchange student program at his or her home university.

Here, we’ll introduce the application process for a student who has already been selected to study at Osaka University.

Necessary Environment to Apply

University-wide Exchange Programs only accept applications via the internet. Applications by postal mail, by e-mail, and in person will not be accepted. The following environment is necessary for applying over the internet.

The exchange program online application system currently does not support data transfer from mobile devices such as tablets and smart phones. We recommend using the student-use computers at your university.
