UNIVERSITY TECHNOLOGY MALAYSIA:

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), an innovation-led and graduate-focused Research University. It is located both in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia and Johor Bahru, the southern city in Iskandar Malaysia. It is a public research university with a focus on engineering, science and technology. It offers courses in subjects ranging from architecture and accounting, to electrical engineering and Islamic studies. About 2,600 academic staff teach an 18,000-strong student body, of whom about 2,500 come from overseas. UTM’s history stretches back to 1904 with the opening of a technical school that later became a college, then an institute, before becoming a university in the 1970s. The institution has two campuses, one in the centre of the country's capital, Kuala Lumpur, and the other in the city of Johor Bahru, the state capital of Johor state, which is at the southern tip of peninsular Malaysia. The latter location is UTM’s main campus and there are 10 residential colleges at this site.

STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM:

Student Exchange program is a program which will allow you to spend one or two semesters at universities abroad and take courses in a regular semester with credit transfer opportunity. Students are encouraged to study at universities partners all around the world.

ELIGIBILITY:

  1. Registered as an active student at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
  2. Must complete at least one-semester study in UTM (one semester) and must NOT be in the last semester of study in UTM. As the first-semester student usually did not have an official transcript, the student is required to provide a supporting letter from the respective faculty.
  3. Have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The student with grade point average lower than 3.0 are required to provide us with a supporting letter/approval letter from the respective faculty.
  4. Possess a good command of the English Language
  5. Have a good physical and mental health condition.
  6. Be physically present in UTM at the time of application.
  7. Must agree to enroll at the host institution as described in the program plan.

Important Notes:

  1. Discuss with students’ academic advisor/deputy dean (academic)/dean of the faculty regarding academic matters and subjects selection at host university and receive acceptance letter from host university before apply to UTM International
  2. Inform parents /guardian about participation in study abroad program
  3. Pay tuition fees at home university (UTM) before depart to host university
  4. Student who plan to do exchange program to non-partner universities are required to apply at host university by themselves but approval by UTM for going abroad is COMPULSORY.
